HEAR TO SEA
red persian travertine, neon
26”h x 24”w x 20”d, 2016
Artist Statement
This is a piece about global warming. The large ear being tossed about in a rising ocean is meant to raise the question of whether we are actually listening to all of the warning signs our planet is trying to “tell” us. Will we act in time to avert the catastrophic damage that will result from the continued build up of greenhouse gases? The neon shooting out of the ear hole is in the shape of a waterspout and spells “CO2.” The stone is red travertine.
